Los Angeles, USA
Maxfield was launched in the early ‘70s in LA by Tommy Perse, who still serves as the store’s creative director, in West Hollywood. The flagship store is housed on the famous Melrose Avenue, in an angular, almost industrial looking space with its temple-like doors and art gallery-like aesthetic inside. Its offerings are a delibrate and interesting mix of designer brands alongside newbie labels, vintage furniture, books and arty knick knacks. In addition, there is a series of pop ups for emerging brands in the gallery space across the street. Where else in LA will you find giant vintage Hermès bags displayed next to first-edition out-of-print art books and Gucci home décor? Names on offer include Chanel, Gucci, Balmain, Cartier, Off White, Rick Owens, Fear of God, Number (N)ine, Vetements, Mike Amiri, Enfants Riches Déprimés, and more.
